At the End of the Road Lies My Redemption – 2024

At the End of the Road Lies My Redemption actually started out as a collaboration between me and a director friend. Together we came up with the basic outline, an idea for the character arcs, and the general themes of the story, and then I was able to branch out from there. I decided to turn it into my Visualization for Digital Cinema final in an effort to really explore the world of the script. I was able to figure out exactly who the characters were, what they looked like, and what aspects of the world were important to them. For example, the relationship Chance has with his car and the deeper meaning behind it. All of which ended up on display in the look book I created as part of the assignment.

Room Dweller – 2023

For the Cinematography I final, the entire class came together to create a short film using the equipment we’d been training on all semester. My role for the crew was the AD and the Scripty, as well as assisting with script rewrites, mostly focusing on the dialogue between the characters, and the setup and tear down of the set.

The Forest – 2023

In Storytelling for Digital Media, both my midterm and my final were centered around writing and refining a 12 page script of a story I wanted to tell. My story centers around a man forced to choose between essentially a rock and a hard place as he wanders through a haunted forest in a desperate bid for freedom. My professor actually encouraged me to bump the script up to 14 pages to allow for a full and complete story. Ultimately I ended up scoring the highest out of everyone in the class.

The following script later became my first step into the director’s chair outside of school (found on my Personal Work page here).

Don’t Film on Campus – 2023

In this Production 2 assignment, I was tasked with coming up with an idea for a micro-short film. I was in charge of directing and editing while the rest of the class filled the other various crew positions. My film was unique in that I was the only one to put the camera in the actor’s hand for a more realistic vlogging style of filming.

The Jacuzzi – 2022

One of my Editing I assignments was to take footage from an existing short film and recut it. This meant going through all of the raw footage and choosing which takes I thought were the best, and for the most part I believe I do a good job with this. I even remixed the soundtrack I was given to make my own version of the background music. There are a few instances of a boom in the shot, but the reason I chose these shots anyway was because of the value I felt they brought to the scene.

Fisker Car Commercial – 2022

Another Editing I assignment where I remixed the footage of an existing video, this time with a car commercial. The thing I really enjoyed about editing this video was showing off the personality of the business executive as someone who seems friendly, perhaps even slightly goofy, until you cross him. Many of the actor’s takes play his character either slightly silly or completely serious. I thought showing him go from easy going to serious and angry made for a much more compelling character.

How To Gnomes Video – 2022

This Production I assignment was all about making a ‘How To’ video. I chose to have mine cover how to make the Gnomes from a video game called Puzzle Agent. This was one of my first ever digital media assignments, and though you can super tell, I still think it’s a great showcase of my personality and style of humor – especially the title cards.

Digital Photography – 2022

Digital Photography was one of the first classes I took at UVU. It was a fun departure from my artistic bubble of writing and sketching. This class helped me learn how to be creative with a camera (even if I might still be fairly basic at shot composition). It also sparked an interest in editing through my introduction to programs like Lightroom and Photoshop.
